When you talk about the Aerial trapeze you have to start with Jules Leotard the person who basically invented the trapeze as an art form to behold in the circus. Leotard was the very first person to use two trapeze in his show and jump or fly between the two, the other was thrown out by his father, probably the only person he cold trust to get the correct timing. What really wowed the audiences was when Jules preformed the very first mid flight somersault between swings. Jules died in eighteen seventy, it is said of smallpox in Spain, he was famous for his feats and has short stories and songs written about him. The other thing that Leotard is famous for is his invention of the all in one skin tight suit he called the maillot, in French, swimming costume. The maillot is known now as the Leotard, Jules made the suit so that he could have a full range of movement and be as light as possible, and to show off his muscular physique. Today it is worn by dancers and performers all over the world as an industry standard, thanks to the Flying Frenchman, Jules Leotard.
